All We Wanna Do Is Dance!!!

There have been musings around the salon about things around the T-town area that we can get involved in over the rest of the Summer and through the end of the year. We're going to be involved in some fundraisers next month (see previous post: Embellish and the Fab5) and there are other events that seem to have peaked the interests of your favorite Daymakers and clients alike. One true theme that seems to ring throughout the chorus is the theme of dance!!

Dance, dance, dance.... It's something that our bodies tend to do (some with more awkwardness than others) without us knowing it when we hear our favorite song or get a little giddy. We all have our own happy dance whether we do it in public or not. Your Daymakers see it sometimes when a client gets more out of their service than they ever could have imagined. It's a sign of happiness and a true expression of emotion.

With that said....

In the near future you may hear us talk about some of our dance related activities and one that has been touched on lightly is the Guinness World Record attempt at breaking the largest "Thriller Dance" record that was set last year. Details, if we so choose to take part, will be posted soon but we wanted to know what you thought about getting involved. Let us know what you think about joining in on the fun and where you think would be the best place to attempt such a feat. I bet we can all do Tacoma proud by helping to show the world just how "thrilling" we can be!!

What An Honor!!

It's always nice to be recognized. All of your favorite Daymakers would like to thank the Weekly Volcano for... well... making our day!!

If you missed the Best of Tacoma 2010 last night at Masa then you missed a good one. Many of Tacoma's finest were honored for their awesome-ness and a large number of well deserved recognition was cleverly delivered by two very lively and entertaining hosts. Tacomans from all over gathered together to give each other a round of applause. Good times were had and warm and fuzzies filled the room as all recipients and spectators basked in the glow of each other's awesome-ness!!

The Weekly Volcano's The Best of Tacoma

What are you doing tonight?!? Well, I hope your answer sounds something like, "Well, I heard there's going to be this awesome thingy going on at Masa today. It's the Weekly Volcano's Best of Tacoma 2010 Premiere Party....."

Why you ask?!? Some of your favorite Tacoma businesses will be honored for their Tacoma-ness (which equals awesome-ness) tonight at 6pm. Come hang with some of your favorite Daymakers and help us cheer on some of ours and your favorites!! We'll see you tonight!!

We have made our way into multiple paper and web type publications that we hope you guys are checking out!! Our "complimentary haircut with color" post card is being featured in Tacoma Live Magazine, on Komo 4's Tacoma News page, Exit 133, and periodically on the GoLocal Go Page. We're also getting our hands into a few events that we can't wait to see you guys at and will keep you updated as those dates come up. Keep your eye out for that coupon and stay tuned to our Facebook, MySpace, Twitter or here on the blog to hear announcements of deals for the week. We're bound to throw a deal your way that'll tickle your wallet's fancy :)

If you're an AOL home page user, you'll soon see one of our tutorials featured on their "Hot in My Salon" section. Eleanor, Melanie and our wonder brush are about to take the hair world by storm!!

Last but not least....

In t-minus 1 week we will be taking 10% of our sales for the month of August and donating it to NLF's Fab5. This group on particular has been responsible for different installments of the graffiti art on the side of our building and we'd like to thank them and give a little back with your help. Let you Daymaker or your receptionist know that you'd like to donate to the cause and we'll make sure these kids reap the benefits of your generosity. Also, there's buzz about a bbq happening to raise more funds so keep your ear to the ground and we'll make sure to keep you posted.

Lights, Camera, Action!!!

Rain or shine, hail, sleet or snow having great hair will always make a person feel like a million bucks!! That's why we at Embellish are working hard to make sure that when you walk out the door you have all the products, styling tips and tools that you will need to make your morning routine a successful one.

Right now we have Eleanor and Melanie working on a "magic brush" pamphlet and video tutorial which is slotted to be a feature on AOL's home page. We're also working on flip cam-ing some of our blowdrying techniques and quick style tips so, just in case you forget "that one step", you can reference the blog or our website for a quick refresher course on how to get the style you want.

Embellish and the Fab5

One of our first graffiti art shows was a showcasing of artwork that is a part of the NLF (National Leadership Foundation) initiative called Fab5. It's NLF's way of getting kids involved in developing their artistic skills as it pertains to the hip-hop culture. With little events in this town that involve hip-hop and our youth, NLF has taken steps to bridge the gap between pierce county and the youth of our community. Fab5 provides mentorship, leadership and positive role models that help foster and cultivate the youth's various talents in break dancing, emceeing, djing and graffiti art.


If you've seen the side or our building in the last couple of months you can tell that we definitely in support of the graffiti arts and we all know that we love the arts in general so we have decided to donate to cause that's dear to our hearts.

For the month of August we will be taking 10% of the proceeds of your services and donating them to NLF's Fab5. Just let your receptionist know when you make your appointment that you'd like to make that donation and we'll make sure we collect that and send that off to our artistic youth!!
