Savi Day Spa and Embellish are teaming up for a special Valentine's event on February 6th and 10th. We are offering you the chance to come in and get hair, makeup and portraits done for your special someone. Hair will be provided by some of your favorite Daymakers, make up by the fabulous artists at Savi and your portraits will be shot by one of Tacoma's finest photographers. This will also be a good chance to chat with us about upcoming events around town and Savi's new line of makeup scheduled to launch sometime this Spring. What's Fresh

If you've heard a little buzz about what we like to call the "Embellish Workout" and have been wondering what it is, it's the trek the lot of us make down the steep stairs in our wondrous purple building down to Smooth & Juicey and Satellite every morning!! Not only do we get a good daily workout in but we start our day off with the tastiest smoothies and the best coffee Tacoma has to offer. That may seem like a biased opinion but anyone who has had the chance to pop in for a Green Machine, Pango Tango or a quick shot of wheat grass would definitely agree. The best part is they press and blend fruit and veggies from as much locally grown produce as possible. Like Thane says, "Where are you going find a banana tree in WA?" Ha!!

"The Boys", Thane Davis and Doug Mazzine, have been spending time getting their feet wet and are mastering the art of smoothie making, juice squeezing and wheat grass pressing in preparation for their official grand opening. Monday February 1st at 5pm they will be serving samples of their smoothie and juice concoctions and Satellite will be giving you the gift of free French pressed goodness following the ribbon cutting by none other than Mayor Marilyn Strickland. Shawn Oberbeck will also be there to answer any questions you have about Usana Nutritionals.

A Little Splash of Color

Thanks to Jennifer Robbins of  J. Robbins Florist we have had gorgeous flowers donning the walls of  Styling Space since the end of last year. They are just a little punch of color that seems to brighten our days and give life to our brick and mortar walls. If you check out her website you will see that she also has a unique talent for the artistry of her profession... making the dreams of her patrons come true!!

February 12th is the Day

Don't be surprised if your calendar starts filling to the brim on the 12th of February. Not only is it the Friday before Valentines but Love Tacoma and Go Local have already sparked the interest of the town with their fantastic events.

Rent With Love Tacoma

Love Tacoma is holding their February event at the Tacoma Musical Playhouse where they are presenting this regions first full production of RENT. Festivities will start at 6:30pm for wine and hors d’oeuvres. The show time starts at 8pm and there will be a meet and greet after the show with the cast. Tickets are $35 and must be purchased in advance on the TMP website.

Go Local's Marketing on a Shoestring

We just got word that Marketing on a Shoestring will be held from 8am-10am at the City Municipal Bldg (North) in Room 16. Panelists Charlie McManus, Ken Swarner, Jerry McLaughlin and Joe Crabbe should make for an interesting and informative venture. For more info check out the Go Local website. Let's Make Our Own Trends for 2010!!

Bleached eye brows are a trend for 2010 according to fashionising.com. When I announced this in the salon my proclamation was met with laughter and a few grumbles. As made evident by the blatant individuality of our staff, Tacoma doesn't always follow what the fashion magazines and websites tell us is "hot" for the season. Despite this, we all still have maintained a freshness as far as Tacoma's fashion sense is concerned by incorporating what trends seem applicable to our own individual style but keeping our innate sensibility that is reminiscent of our Pacific Northwest rationale.

With that in mind, it would make more sense to look right in our own backyard to see what trends are happening right now in Tacoma and we can all agree that it seems as though everyone is either going back to their natural with a punch of personality or going dark. Therefor, it would only make sense to go along with that trend and offer our clients an opportunity to maintain or keep up with what's hot in Tacoma.

Rebecca the Intern

Say hello to our SOTA intern!! She came to us with an interest in being a stylist and has been picking our brains about the business and its inner workings. She has aspirations to do hair in the music industry and is hoping that doing so will get her foot in the door to become a singer/songwriter herself. Her time spent with us has opened her eyes to some of the more intricate details of working in the biz and lucky for the hair world it hasn't scared her away. She's learned that there's more to doing hair than just doing hair. With hopes of excelling in color she will be attending the Salon Professional Academy. We wish her all the best in her hair adventure and hope to see her gracing the pages of Rolling Stone and Nylon Magazine.

Embellish's Last Artwalk January 21, 2010

After our first team meeting of the year, we've decided to end our Artwalk run with the amazing digital art of Sophie Story. She's is an amazing young artist with loads of talent and was amazing enough to lend some of her artwork to us to use for our "Friends don't let friends go un-embellished" post cards. According to her mother, a long time client of  Embellish, Sophie has been creating art since she was 3. At the age of 13, this Artwalk will be her first featured show. You can track her progress in the future by catching her postings on deviantart.com under the artist name, santur. Stay tuned for the show date so you can celebrate both her first showing and our last Artwalk with us.
