The Proof is in the Event Design Pudding

Congratulations to Julie Hale and Vangard Inc for 8 amazing and successful years and a Gala Award Nomination for 2010. Julie started this business working from the living room of her home. Now the business has grown to become one of Tacoma's most sought after award winning event designers. Julie says in a recent interview, "Vangard will continue to offer clients trendsetting ideas and design for their events, taking cues from the worlds of art, fashion, and travel" and if you've ever had the pleasure of basking in the beauty of one of their intricately planned events, the proof is in the pudding. It is impossible to rave enough about the fantastically articulated artistry created by Julie and her team which leaves most awestruck by the talent and complete and utter attention to the finest of details. Congratulations again and we wish Vangard and Julie many more fabulous and fruitful years!!

Nurture Healing Center

Come & Be

Nurture is here to offer a quiet space to just be.
A space to run towards yourself, but not away.
A space to face all the potential you hold.
A space to learn, discover, and grow.
A space to gather as friends and as a community.
A space to heal.

With that said this may leave you wondering what Nurture Healing Center is all about but simply put, it is just that.... a place you can "just be". We went there as a group for a retreat at the beginning of the year and were blessed to be able to use such a spectacular and relaxing space to leave 2009 behind and start 2010 off right. With a fabulous staff and an inviting space, Nurture is a wonderful space to take a yoga class, get a soothing massage or hold an event but first and foremost it is a place where you are welcome to just be. With busy work schedules, the juggling of kid's practices and school events all the while maintaining a social life who doesn't need to take a little bit of "me time" and be in a space where you're aloud to do just that? There are many beautiful places to do so in Tacoma, but we just want to make sure you keep Nurture in mind when you're taking time to take care of yourself.

To start out she'll be available to do hair on Saturdays from 11-5 but will be rockin' out some fabulous hair throughout the week in no time!! Welcome back Heather!!

We Bid Them Adiuex

We at Embellish would like to say to Brandon and Ainslee farewell and good luck. They both stopped in for their last Embellish-ments today before heading off to New York to pursue new avenues that will hopefully lead them to their long awaited destinations. We know that they will take New York by storm!! Tacoma will miss them and New York will love them. We wish them the best!!

Everyone Needs a Heat Protectant and the Melu Shield ROCKS!!

We cannot get over the new Melu line by Davines!! It is absolutely FANTASTIC!! It's a line infused with multiple vitamins vital for rejuvenating the hair and light proteins important for filling in those ends that have seen better days. The Melu Shield itself is a super light and amazing thermal protectant that prevents your hair from feeling the wrath of your heated styling tools up to 428 degrees Fahrenheit (220 degrees Celsius). You can spray this rosemary extract enriched and essential oil infused goodness on your hair wet or dry so it's perfect for blow drying, flat ironing, barrel curling or setting you hair in hot rollers. Did we mention that it smells great too?!? So if you haven't tried this great product, make sure you mention it to your stylist next time you come in so you can fall in love with it like all of your favorite Daymakers have!!

Retro Night = Loads of Fun!!

We made our second trip to Puyallup this weekend for another fun filled roller skating adventure. Little did we know that we were skating in a place with such history.

The building itself is very unassuming, strong and quiet on the outside but fun and full of energy on the inside. Built in 1969, it has always been a family oriented business. Now under ownership of Dennis and Carole King, they are planning to pass on their 38 year legacy to their son Dennis Jr and his wife Melinda.

We had amazing amounts of fun watching all the kids we toted along and making the rounds ourselves. Who would've known that some of Tacoma's finest hairstylists, smoothie/juice makers, massage therapists and others in tow would be so "graceful" while getting our boogie on to Tiffany's finest retro music selctions?!? If you didn't get a chance to join us, you're only missing out on a good time. We'll be announcing our next skate night date soon!! Don't forget to mark this one on your calendar!!

Shopgirl Tacoma

Gathered in the shopping space of Vanity Fashion
Boutique on 6th Ave, the ladies of Shopgirl Tacoma spent their evening inspiring each other and sharing ideas. Spun from the ideas of Sonja Silver of Sonja's Clothes to Live In, this fantastic group of female brick and mortar business owners have banned together to connect, share, refer businesses to each other, have fun doing it and to do good things in the community together. With this many amazing business women in one room, they were not short of ideas on marketing, business growth and just simply having a good time. Sonja has utilized the wonders of Facebook to keep everyone informed of future meetings and has kept it exclusive as to not dilute the group's purpose. The Shopgirl Facebook has also become a place for all of the women in the group to keep in touch with each other between meetings and a place for all members to keep up with open discussions and continued topics from the meeting.

The next meeting will be held on March 3rd at Nurture Healing Center at 9am. We hope to see you there!!

Smoothies, Juice and Coffee Oh My!

The Smooth and Juicey/ Satellite Coffee opening went off without a hitch. There were plenty of people to keep the boys busy, baristas and smooth juicers alike. While Zach and his crew did their coffee thang, "The Boys" of Smooth and Juicey blended like they'd never blended before. The shop was crowded with Tacoma peeps and everyone hung out and partook of all the coffee, juice and smoothie goodness the guys could pump out. There were delectable delights provided by Masa and Mayor Marilyn Strickland mingled, sipped and cut the red ribbon/caution tape. It was good to see so many people out who are supportive of Tacoma's local business scene and even better to see the already loyal patrons of both businesses celebrating the presence of two entities essential to the growth of the downtown area.
