Sea Salt At Its Finest

The new Davines Sea Salt Primer For Wizards #14 is another phenomenal creation brought to you by the innovative teams hunkered down in Parma, Italy. They have out done themselves once again with a product that is a great addition to the For Wizards line.

Sea Salt Primer #14 is a salt-infused styling spray for fullness, hold and a cool mat finish. It adds texture and lots of volume with a light hold and dry finish. It gives hair a wind swept style and a "just off the beach" texture. Sea salt primer gives body while minimizing fly-aways. This is a fantastic product to add to your repertoire if you a little something new to take your style to the next level.

A Great Quick Do Change!!

Check out this how to courtesy of citified.blogspot.com/.
It is fabulous!!!

perfectly-pretty-hed-23double-knot2

. . . have had this fun tutorial planned for well over a week now, as a follow-up to the ultra-chic and wildly popular side chignon, {which some of you had great success with}, but in all this week's excitement, hadn't a chance to post until now . . . perfect for unruly winter hair, this look is a beautiful, more casual alternative to the sleek classic chignon and goes easily from a day at the office to dinner reservations at seven . . .

knotted2
{step one}
to ensure that your hair has enough texture for the hairstyle to hold, use a spray-in mousse applied to the roots and work through with a hair dryer; if you have flat or fine hair, simply apply more mousse

{step two}
using a comb, divide hair down the center, beginning at the crown of the head and finishing at the nape of the neck

knotted3

{step three}
hold both sections of hair separately, ensuring that you have all strands of hair in your hands
knotted4
{step four}tie a single knot in much the same way you would tie any knot, placing one section of parted hair over the other, then looping that section though the created hole, pulling the two parts tightly
knotted5
{step five}
now that you have a single hair knot, repeat {step four} to tie a second knot,
layering on top of the previous one; twist slightly for effect

double-knot4

{step six}
secure with a bobby pin through the right hair part and hair knot, and another pin through the left hair part and hair knot; you may also wish to use a third bobby pin for the second knot created; finish with hair spray to hold any stray strands in place

knotted1{step seven}
a romantic silk or lacy blouse and a spritz of heady perfume and you're set for late matinée or an afternoon at the shops . . .
{p.s.} perhaps a little more ambitious than the side chignon, and may require an extra set of hands, but if you do attempt, would love to hear! x

Feather Hair Extensions With Jessica Alexander

You may have seen Trish gallivanting around town with a super cute feather extention in her hair. We first came across this trend in Portland when we visited Trish's good friend David Scott and have since been trying to find someone in town that has added this to their repertoire. Lucky for us, Jessica Alexander has and will be joining us on Friday afternoons to throw a feather or two into freshly Embellished locks. If you'd like to get in on the feather extension mayhem, shoot us a call and we'll gladly set you up with a time to feather up your do. Also, for more information click here for an article for a bit more information on the topic.

Best Hair Moments of 2010 Courtesy of behindthechair.com

BTC Top 10:
The Best Hair Moments of 2010
By: Angie Manson
From drastic cuts to superb red carpet styles, this year brought regular news bulletins from the realm of celebrity hairstyles. We spotted more amazing styles than we can count! To recap a year of brilliant styling, here—in no particular order—are BTC’s picks for the best hair moments of 2010.

Taylor Swift’s Straight StyleThe country crooner kicked it up a notch at this year’s American Music Awards, ditching her tasteful but often tired and overused red carpet styles in favor of an edgy, straight look with a heavy fringe that instantly turned her from sweet to sexy.  She even managed to outshine Ke$ha’s studded eyebrows. The new hair enhanced her smoky eye and soft lip perfectly. Even her pal Katy Perry was shocked with the new look, tweeting, "Gurl your hair looked amazeballs!" after the show. Here's hoping that Taylor will keep it up and continue to look "amazeballs" in 2011.

Sandra Bullock at the OscarsOn a carpet full of updos, Sandra Bullock was in a league of her own with shiny, long, side-parted strands at this year’s Academy Awards. Her high-gloss ‘do was completely void of frizz or flaws; we could practically see our jealous stares reflecting back at us in her hair’s mirrored finish. Hairstylist Adir Abergel created the style and said it was a modern, straighter version of an Old Hollywood/Veronica Lake ‘do with plenty of movement at the bottom. And her lusciously rich chocolate haircolor added the perfect finish to her pristine style. That evening, Sandra snagged the Oscar for Best Actress, adding even more sparkle to her already stunning look.

Ashley Olsen’s Dark ColorAshley set herself apart from her twin sis by debuting lovely, dark strands this fall. We’ve been quite used to seeing her with her usual blond hair and dark roots, and this change-up to the more mysterious, sultry shade came just in time for winter. Looks like this trendy twin may be trying to show off her more mature side as she continues to build her popular fashion labels.

Lady Gaga’s “Alejandro” HaircutWhen Gaga’s hit summer anthem “Alejandro” was released, we expected to see her signature wigs and headpieces throughout the music video. But we were pleasantly surprised to instead see Gaga sporting a clean, unexpected short platinum bob. Was it a wig? Nope! Legendary hairstylist Eugene Souleiman was called in to tend to the singer’s infamous tresses and got to go where not many hairdressers have gone before—he cut her hair off! “I think this cut was a great move for her,” he told us. “It’s chic and tough. Plus, people rarely get to see her without a wig on and this was an unexpected change.” Despite the wacky and wild looks Gaga is known for, this simple, chic style definitely topped our list of favorites.
Halle Berry’s Flapper WigSpeaking of wigs, the one Halle Berry donned for the September issue of Vogue was utterly amazing. The cheekbone-length flapper bob and flirty fringe harkened back to the roaring ‘20s and (quite fittingly) looked shockingly similar to Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour’s signature style. Oribe created the cover look, telling us it was his goal to do something different and unique. "I wanted Halle's hair to be very sharp and direct and not at all bulky. The idea was to get flat, straight hair with soft, moveable bangs to create interest," he said. "Halle has never worn her hair in this type of style, and I was very interested in doing something different.”

Joaquin Phoenix’s Cleaned-Up Coif Joaquin obviously got the memo that tailored haircuts were coming back in a big way for men, because he (finally!) groomed away his Grizzly Adams-esque scruff and revealed the handsome face we love, complemented by a rather nice classic cut to boot! The new look definitely shouts, “I’m Still Here!” We just hope that his cleaned-up image is here to stay…for good.
Keira Knightley’s Classic Bob Sure, the fall Chanel collection Karl Lagerfeld debuted at Paris Fashion Week was brilliant, but it was the actress sitting in the front row that really caught our eye. It was Keira Knightley, looking lovely as ever in a shapely, stunning new bob. Just when we thought this simple style was fading out of the limelight, Keira brought it back with a vengeance. It makes us remember everything we love about the bob...that it works on just about any client; that it's versatile and chic; that it can be cut into a variety of lengths, that a modern, bold color gives it instant freshness...the list goes on and on. Better brush up on your classic cutting skills because this is one look that doesn’t appear to be going away any time soon!

Jessica Alba’s Auburn LobJesssica looks simply stunning in this collarbone-grazing lob (long bob) and earthy auburn highlights. Stylist Renato Campora recently chopped off the movie star mom’s wavy strands and she showed off the dramatic new style on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.” She scores major sophistication points in our book for this simple yet stylish new look!

Carey Mulligan’s PixieUnless you’re living in under a rock, you probably know that the pixie was by far the biggest hair trend of the year. Tons of celebs lopped off their locks and stepped out in the high-fashion hairdos—from Janet Jackson to Hayden Panettiere—but Carey Mulligan made the biggest splash with her platinum blonde version. The new look catapulted the British cutie into instant mega-stardom. Maybe she didn’t know it at the time, but the moment Carey debuted her pixie, she scored herself a number 1 slot on fashion’s A-list forever.

Alicia Keys’ Wedding UpdoMultiple Grammy award winning singer Alicia Keys continued to set trends even on her wedding day. Incorporating a diamond-encrusted tiara with an elegant chignon tucked and pinned away from her face, Alicia exuded a regal look on her big day. Maybe it was the baby bump, maybe it was the wedding-day glow, but either way, we thought Alicia couldn’t have looked better in her simple yet glamorous style fit for a queen.
