The Nutti Yogini

Jessica Alexander is more than excited today. She's in the midst of launching her new line, Nutti Yogini and is on the cover of the Business Examiner. (Check it out here.) Recently we asked Jessica some questions about her new line.

What is your inspiration for the line? The inspiration for the line is based off of "INTENTIONS" that yogi's (people who do yoga) strive for in their daily lives like Gratitude, Intuition, Serenity, etc. If you watch the video on my kickstarter page it will explain in detail http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1143059414/rock-the-yogini?ref=live

What motivates you to use the material you do? I have created jewelry for over 10years using high-end materials like precious stones, freshwater pearls,14kt, sterling silver, etc. I have always paid great attention to detail. My clothing line has now been created off of sustainable materials like organic cottons & recycled lycra so you can respect your environment while having the fashion you desire in your life. The biggest thing is that this clothing is meant to last years of wear by using these high-end fabrics.

Do you have a favorite piece? My favorite piece is the high rise yoga pant because it addresses the dreaded "muffin top" issue by embracing a womans curves. :)

What is your vision for Nutti Yogini? Within five years Nutti Yogini will be a wholesaler providing clothing & jewelry all over the world and have its headquarters right here in Tacoma! Lot's of artists and affordable housing...what could be better?

Is there a specific meaning behind the name? Yes! I am the Nutti Yogini. Yogini is a female that practices yoga and Nutti is what it sounds like! I have a crazy side to me that is fun and loves to do yoga poses everywhere!

How do you see your line inspiring or encouraging others? The ""INTENTIONS" definitely encourage and inspire people to focus on what they desire more of. The quote I use a lot, that I wrote, explaining it the best is: "Creating beauty gives me purpose. The purpose to help other women heal themselves and become empowered. Creating is the window to my soul."

What do you want your customers to get from your products? To be proud of the fact that each dollar they spend is directly affecting their community and not harming the environment.

Why Tacoma? I am a born and raised native of Tacoma and I love it here! So much talent lives here! I come from a long line of entrepreneurs in my family who all lived in Tacoma!

Please go to kickstarter.com and take a look at Nutti Yogini. There are 13 days left in which to help Jessica launch this line! Help strengthen your community.
